
By beating Kazakhstan’s Yersin Jailauov in three rounds, Bernard Dunne defends his European title and maintains his unbeaten record.
Dunne dominated the fight all the way and it was a big left hook that finally dropped the challenger in round 3. After this Dunne was all over him and the ref wisely stopped the fight afte 1 min and 53 seconds into the round.
This win brings Dunne’s record to 23 straight victories.
Having made his name in the USA by working with top boxing coach Freddie Roach, Dunne has now become a major star in Ireland.
The Irish boxer is already ranked highly by all the boxing governing bodies and should be challenging in a the next year and half.
The Dubliner was making the first defence of his title after his impressive victory over Esham Pickering, also in Dublin, last November.
Jailauov’s record included a second-round stoppage by former European Champion Michael Hunter last year.
