After The Contender Forbes, De La Hoya Wants Mayweather Again!

Oscar De La Hoya is set to face The Contender star Steve Forbes, but he has set his sights on a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Junior.

De La Hoya Wants Mayweather Again

De La Hoya has reunited with his coach Floyd Mayweather Senior and intends to end this year, and his boxing career, with a big bang!

After beating Forbes, De La Hoya wants to beat Floyd Mayweather and then walk off into the sunset…Can he do it?

The fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Steve Forbes makes sense as a warm up fight for DLH as Forbes has a similar boxing style to Mayweather.

De La Hoya (38-5, 30 KOs) said: “He has that style and I’m looking for a Floyd Mayweather fight, It’s a combination of a number of things why I took this fight.”

As all boxing fans will remember (if you don’t then where have you been?!) the last fight between De La Hoya and Mayweather was billed as the greatest fight ever, ever, ever… and although it may not have been quite that big, it was certainly the biggest match in the last decade. Mayweather won by a majority points decision, however the fight was not as exciting as many boxing fans had hoped it would be.

So do you want to see Mayweather fight De La Hoya again?

Mayweather isn’t really up to much, apart from his new acting career, so its not like he has 20 fights lined up. If I was DLH I would want a rematch with Mayweather as well, but from Mayweather’s perpective, why should he take the fight?

Why risk an undefeated, near perfect record against a fighter you have already beaten?
Mayweather doesn’t need the money, so I don’t really see why he would take this fight.

Do you think DLH can beat Forbes and go on to take his revenge on Mayweather?

Of course if De La Hoya beats Mayweather this time around, you know what every boxing fans, including myself will be screaming for? TRILOGY!!!

  1. NO NO NO. MAYWEATHER VS COTTO
That is what the FANS want. Maybe the winner of that fight can take on Del La Hoya. I wouldnt mind seeing the fight. BUT I want to SEE Cotto in there with Mayweather. Mayweather will win, but i want to see it. Then Del La Hoya can come into play and THEN if MONEY wins that then he should retire. I had the first fight a draw atleast. I like Mayweather and Del La Hoya. Great FIGHTERS. LEGENDS. “REAL LEGENDS” unlike some in the sport today.
