Amir Khan will appear on ITV for the last time next Saturday and will be fighting Michael Gomez, the fourth challenger for his commonwealth title.
There is talk of a very short encounter, so a reminder not to blink! At 30 Gomez can still pack a punch but his record lately doesn’t suggest he can take Khans punching for long.
Lacking support from ITV, Khan is set to hop channels. Frank Warren could see him on the BBC or Five. Warren says “Amir and I are cool. We are very happy with what we’ve got. Let’s get this fight out of the way and all will be revealed in a few weeks. We can’t make any plans yet because Gomez is capable of upsetting them.”
The fight on Saturday is Khan’s last in a three-year contract with Warren, which has seen him from silver medal to commonwealth champ.
Khan has not yet signed a new contract, but has got no plans made, as Gomez is quite capable of ruining them with his boxing skill.
It take just one guy to wreck a dream. Catching Khan before he’s settled is Gomez’s only hope, and this man is sure to give it a go.
Who do you think Amir will sign with next?
What will be the result of this Gomez-Khan Fight?
