The young British boxing prospect Amir Khan, added another win to his record last night taking it to 16-0 with 12 knock outs.

Amir Khan beat Gairy St. Clair over 12 rounds to retain his commonwealth title at the ExCel Arena in London. Despite Amir Khan’s eagerness to fight for a world title, his promoter Frank Warren is wisely holding Khan back for a while to make sure that he is ready for a world title challenge when he eventually takes one on.
After the fight, Amir Khan said:
“I’ve always wanted to do 12 rounds. I enjoyed it and learned more from this fight than knocking somebody out in the first round.”
Boxing fans seem to be divided on whether Amir Khan is ready for a world title shot. Some think that Amir Khan should fight for a world title ASAP and these are mostly the same ones who thought he should fight for a belt 2 fights after the Olympics. In my experience these tend to be the less experienced boxers or boxing fans. Those with more experience of boxing agree with Frank Warren and think that he is right to hold Amir Khan back until he is ready. I am firmly in the camp that thinks Amir Khan is not ready yet, and I think the fact that he had to go 12 rounds with St. Clair supports this argument. Even though I think Amir Khan won it comfortably, I feel he is still not yet ready to take on a world title challenge.
However we want to hear what you have to say on the matter.
Do you think Amir Khan should fight for a world title now?
Or should Frank Warren keep holding him back until he has more experience?

st clair has never been stopped so you cannot criticise khan for going the distance.i say another 2 tests before title shot to prove his doubters, although i do believe he could catch one now.he has awsome power for a lightweight.

I agree, he is not ready…yet!
With more fights and more experience I think Khan will develop into one of the best boxers Britian has ever had.
