The young British boxing prospect Amir Khan is ready to face Michael Gomez on the 21st June in Birmingham, UK.
This is another stepping stone for Amir Khan on his way to a world title challenge. Khan is currently ranked in the top ten of all major boxing bodies at lightweight, but this does not mean Gomaz will be an easy fight.
Gomez has lost only 8 from 43 and he has won a world title in the past. Also, Gomez has stated that he will “fight” Khan and stop Khan boxing:“Khan is a nice tidy boxer but I will make him fight and do everything legal to stop him boxing,” Gomez said.
This seems like a fairly smart strategy to me. Amir Khan is an excellent boxer and trying to match his skill and talent is a formidable task. I think the best option is to try and mix it up, disrupt Khan’s boxing style and hopefully land a few solid punches to shake the young boxer up before moving in for an early KO.
But Amir Khan knows that Gomez will be tough battle:
“Gomez is one of the toughest boxers currently fighting in Britain and I can tell from his eyes that he thinks he can beat me,”
“I am glad that he feels that way because I like it when a fighter comes to win and I know that Gomez will try.”
Do you think Amir Khan will beat Gomez?
How long will it be until we see Amir Khan win a world title?
