Young British boxing prospect Amir Khan has said he is willing to move to the USA in order to team up with a first rate boxing coach.
Khan split with his old coach Oliver Harrison last month and the 21 year old is apparently looking for a long term replacement.
Amir Khan said: “I’d like an American coach to come over here but if it came down to the fact that I had to go to America, I’d do that,”
“I’d like to take that chance. It’d be a different atmosphere over there and a different environment to learn in.”
“I think it could bring something different out in me. I would look forward to the challenge.”
Coach Dean Powell is going to oversee Amir Khan’s next fight against Michael Gomez, but Powell is only a temporary coach, with big names such as Roger Mayweather and Buddy McGrit lined up as possible long term coaches for Khan.
Its a shame that Khan may move away from the UK, but as a British boxing fan I am not too worried as in the long term this means Khan making a bigger name for himself and thats good for British boxing, and is what all boxing fans in the UK want to see.
Who would you like to see coach Amir Khan?
