Sit ups are a crucial part of any boxers training schedule, but if your looking to push yourself the extra mile, then take a look at this piece of boxing equipment.
As well as regular sit ups, the “sit up and punch” is a good exercise especially for boxing. Sit ups DO NOT give you a six pack, that’s to do with fat to body ratios. But what sit ups do do is they build and strengthen your muscles in the abdomen. This allows you to take heavy punches to the torso without crumbling. Medicine balls are a good way to test your strength. You and a partner can throw a medicine ball to each other, allowing it to hit your stomach before throwing it back. Make sure that you have done a fair bit of training, sit ups especially, before you do this exercise, otherwise you could go straight through the wall with the medicine ball!
To make sit ups harder, you can get sit up benches, which force you to “sit up” further as you start from further down on a sort of arch shape. This piece of boxing equipment from Bodytec, basically combines the sit up bench and the sit up and punch exercise together.
We recently got one of these in the gym and I have to say its pretty good. By giving you a target to hit, you are forced to make your punches more quality, whereas before you could just limply throw them as they were going into thin air. Obviously the curved sit up bench makes sit ups a lot harder, but this is all good for boxing training and building up muscles. Also by punching the ball, if you are punching properly, you are twisting your body left and right. This works the stomach muscles even more!
I have to say when I heard that we had bought on of these things, I thought it would have cost at least three figures. However we managed to get in a special offer on powerhouse fitness and so it only cost about £50!
Boxing Daily Rating: 9/10 - I think that it was a great buy and I would recommend it to any gym, boxing club or boxer who is serious about training and building up stomach muscles.

It is a very good piece of equipment no doubt. I dont know whether it may be too much for a individual boxer, but it is certianly great for a gym or boxing club.
However if you are really keen on boxing then go for it as its a really good piece of eqipment.
