In recent months we have seen two British world boxing champions loses their titles as both Clinton Woods and Junior Witter were defeated in the ring.
Can Witter and Woods make a comeback?
There are probably two main factors stopping this from happening.
Firstly, both Witter and Woods became world champions at fairly late stages in their career, so time is limited before they will be forced to hang up the boxing gloves.
Secondly, Woods and Witter are signed up with smaller promotional outfits, and so securing rematches, or big name fights in the future, will be harder as they aren’t with some of the leading promoters out there.
However, if they can overcome these two obstacles then we could certainly see both Witter and Woods make a strong comeback.
Do you think they can do it?
It also should be noted that Witter and Woods both lost when they were focusing on bigger (money) fights in the future, and so perhaps that lack of concentration is what let them down. True boxing champions are always focused on the next fight, no matter what may be coming up in the future. Take Oscar De La Hoya for example, despite a mega money rematch with Mayweather on the cards, he was still focused on beating Forbes.
Do you think boxers lose focus when there are bigger fights ahead?
