Is it just me or is this fight happening years after it should have happened?
Both of these boxers are way past their prime but Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad are set to go head to head in Las Vegas in just a couple of days.
To be honest, either Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad are half decent liars or neither of them actually know how far past their prime they are (read more…)

The next two big fights in Britain, and arguably the world, involve the British boxers Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe.

Thanks to Michael Jordan, every sports star seem to want to make a “comeback”. Actually I think this stems back to Muhammad Ali who made the original “greatest comeback”.

But the fact is that Ali didn’t intentionally retire, he was forced to stop boxing. Show offs like Mayweather come out with utter rubbish about retirement so they can claim that they are making some magnificent comeback. This are fakes. Just retire when you want to retire, but don’t announce that you are going to retire just to raise PPV sales because its annoying boxing fans like myself!
This “comeback” by Roy Jones Junior and Felix Trinidad is (read more…)

Watch interviews with Joe Calzaghe and Peter Manfredo before they fight on Saturday night.
Peter Manfredo said that by modelling himself on Jake LaMotta he will be able to beat Calzaghe. Apparently Manfredo has been nicknamed ‘LaMotta’ in the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles.
This is supposed to be based on his bustling boxing style as well as his Italian-American background and his “hard head”.

“See LaMotta in Raging Bull and it’s me - just without the brutal part with his wife and all that nonsense,” Manfredo said (read more…)

Bobby Gunn, the WBO Cruiserweight Challenger has said that he thinks the current champion Enzo Maccarinelli is a tougher fight than Roy Jones Jr.
“I had a possible fight with Jones fall through, but to me there is no comparison with Enzo - he is the man right now,” Gunn said.
“He’s perhaps the best cruiserweight in the world, but a chance to fight such a man on his own ground is what I crave.”
I would agree with Gunn on this one. Although Roy Jones Jr. was a superb fighter in his prime, he is now well past his prime, whereas Enzo is coming into his prime and so he is the better match.

This will be Maccarinelli’s second defence of the title and will be at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday as chief support to the Joe Calzaghe fight (read more…)
