On Sunday, Isaac Ward claimed the vacant super bantamweight commonwealth boxing title.
He did so when he stopped Francis Miyeyusho in Yarm in just the second round.
Ward is 29 and from Darlington in the North-East of England.
He send Miyeyusho, of Tanzania, to the canvas with a huge right hand to the body. Miyeyusho stayed on his kneed for the full count.
As my old boxing coach used to say, “Kill the body, the head dies!”
This gives British boxer Ward his first title in 18 pro fight career.
Although in May of last year he was beaten badly in a British title challenge where he faced Londoner Martin Power.
However this was a good win for him and it is good to keep the commonwealth title in British hands!
What do think of Ward’s win?
