David Haye Gives Up Title: Going For Heavyweight

The WBC, WBA and WBO world cruiserweight boxing champion. David Haye, has given up his title in order to step up to heavyweight.

Haye has told the WBC that he plans to fight in the heavyweight division and so has asked to be moved up one division in their ratings.

It has been Haye’s dream for a while to fight at heavyweight and win the WBC green and gold heavyweight championship. After a successful time at cruiserweight, Haye moved up for one fight at heavyweight to sort of test the water, Haye has now decided to fully make the transfer into the heavyweight division.

The heavyweight division is fairly bland at the moment in my opinion, so perhaps Haye can get some sparks going and set this once great division on fire. I was glad to Haye fight Enzo Maccarinelli at cruiserweight before moving up, as this is what many boxing fans wanted to see.

It will be interesting to see if Haye can cope with the added pressure of the heavyweight division, and whether he can achieved his goal of winning some belts.

Do you think Haye is capable of becoming a heavyweight champion?

Is this the right move for David Haye?
