Earl Clinches Unoccupied Title

Graham Earl, Luton, had an incredibly tough job in defeating Argentina’s Angel Hugo Ramirez to grab hold of the available WBU lightweight belt.

Earl Clinches Unoccupied Title

During the bout Earl received quite a bad cut over his right eye and was seen staggering across the ring on a number of occasions. But he pulled through and managed to secure a unanimous decision from the three judges at London’s York Hall.

This came as quite a shock to Ramirez who clearly thought that he had won the bout and taken the championship. It’s these tough fights where boxers really have to dig deep and pull out all the stops to get the win that show a boxer’s true heart and determination. This could lead to big things for Earl but he’s going to have to work on a few things if he wishes to claim some of the other lightweight belts.

Please leave your own thoughts on Saturday night’s bout between Earl and Ramirez at the bottom of the page.
