Enzo crushes overrated Gunn

Enzo Maccarinelli is still the WBO Cruiserweight champion after he retained his title with ease by a stoppage in round one against American Bobby Gunn.

This was another case of a quality British boxer beating an overrated American fighter!

Maccarinelli looked absolutely awesome in the ring and in my opinion he was the best boxer of the night, he performed better than Khan and Calzaghe on Saturday night.

Enzo Maccarinelli is still the WBO Cruiserweight champion

This was Maccarinelli’s second defence of the title that he won by beating Marcelo Dominguez in July.

Maccarinelli looked very comfortable and his boxing was clean and tidy and he moved around the ring using his strong jab. Gunn was given a temporary respite by the ref, but Gunn already had a bloody nose and he was going to be knocked out sooner or later and so the referee stopped the fight.

Maccarinelli said: “I have stepped up to the next level now and I am looking to unify the belts. It doesn’t matter which one of the champions I get, but I just can’t wait,”

“I caught him with some good shots before the stoppage and credit to him, he stayed on his feet when lesser men would have folded.

“The fact is that whoever I hit on the chin is going to drop.”

That’s true, Maccarinelli does pack one hell of punch which will knock anyone out if he can land it on the chin. Maccarinelli looked amazing against Gunn, but he may have more trouble against a tougher opponent.

I would like to Maccarinelli win the other belts in the cruiserweight division and then who knows…

…Could Maccarinelli move up to the heavyweight division?

  1. I paid to see a world title fight. Don’t I deserve to see at least a knock down? Why such a quick stop? Any shock that the ref is the son of the judge of Gunn’s last fight? Rumor has it, that he wanted to disqualify Gunn against Landberg? Funny how he is the only ref picked from the United States????

  2. Over hyped Maccranelli, since he won the world title his fights have got easier.Warren is building him up as the next superstar.Nah,he`ll need to be a lot more convincing than knocking over Gun,he dodged the fight with David Haye and still even if he lost he would`ve kept his world title. He didn`t want another loss on his record that`s why the bottler.

  3. I just want to see Enzo fight another belt holder, because that would be a great fight and a chance to prove himself. Here’s hoping for a unification soon.

Also i think credit to Gunn, he took some massive hits that would have put others on the mat

  4. Enzo is one of our very best fighters ever, in my humble opinion. What a fantastic hitter. I agree when hearing him say that anyone will fall if he gets hit on the chin by one of Enzo’s “Bazookas”.
    The guy is just great.
Keep it up Enzo, I can’t wait for your next demolition job.
    Dave.

  5. I watched this fight from ringside and Gunn CANNOT fight. I mean, for real, he is a fraudulent, built-up fighter (look closely at his record on boxrec.com)Gunn is not even as good as a club level fighter. Shelby Gross knocked Gunn the F out and Enzo sent him running and hiding in April. What a joke of a fighter this Gunn is…no chin and no heart…
