Taking his record to 41-8-2 with 27 KO’s, veteran boxer Evander Holyfield beat Vinny Maddalone in Texas by a third round stoppage.
This is the third time that Holyfield has won in seven months as he continues his comeback in an attempt to win a heavyweight title for a fifth time.
At the beginning of the fight, Maddalone was cut when he clashed heads with Holyfield. This is typical of Holyfield, head butting was one of the main reasons he beat Mike Tyson a few years ago.
However Holyfield landed some big shots on Maddalone and so Maddalone’s corner was wise to throw in the towel.
Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield will be 45 this October. That was how old George Foreman was when he beat Michael Moorer to regain the heavyweight title in 1994.
Can Holyfield win a heavyweight title again?
With the poor state of the heavyweight division at the moment, I think anything is possible…
