Filipino Pacman gave his bigger, more famous opponent such a beating that Golden Boy De la Hoya declined to come out of his corner after the eighth round, and rightly so.

The TKO is only the second time De la Hoya had been stopped in his 16-year star studded professional career. De la Hoya was a good sportsman though, saying: “He’s just a great fighter, I have nothing bad to say about him. He prepared like a true champion.”

I agree with <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/Manny+Pacquiao"target="_blank">Manny Pacquiao who said: “Speed was going to be the key to this fight,” and it certainly was with Pacman dominating the boxing ring from start to finish
“I’m not surprised by the result, because I prepared well to control the fight from the beginning. I’m happy that I could give this victory to my country.”

De la Hoya however seemed very much passed his peak and said; “I felt empty, without power, I tried to go forward but Pacquiao’s leg speed and movement didn’t allow me to connect with anything.”

So what did you make of the fight?

I thought that it did not disappoint at all, perhaps we could’ve seen more from De la Hoya, but he did his best and it was just a case of Manny Pacquiao being too darn good.

Do you think a <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/De+la+Hoya"target="_blank">De la Hoya in his prime would’ve beaten the Manny Pacquiao we saw on Saturday night?

I don’t think a rematch between these two is likely, but would anyone want to see them fight again?

Post all your thoughts as comments below..

Possibly the biggest boxing match this year, <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/Manny+Pacquiao"target="_blank">Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya are set to fight this Saturday night.

This is a face off of two <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/boxing-daily-the-worlds-best-p4p-boxers/"target="_blank">pound for pound boxing Kings, and is looking to be an awesome fight.

Oscar De La Hoya has the advantage over Pacman in areas such as weight, height and reach, but Pacman is enjoying the high point of his career, whereas is could be argued that <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/De+La+Hoya"target="_blank">De La Hoya has already peaked in terms of his boxing form.

Manny Pacquiao also has the massive support of the Philippines behind, support so strong that rebels and government forces actually hold steadfast to a temporary ceasefire whenever he boxes. <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/Manny+Pacquiao"target="_blank">Pacman’s aggressive style is one that boxing fans love, and has made him an extremely successful boxer so far in his career.

However De La Hoya, the “Golden Boy”, has had fantastic career, which arguably tops Pacman’s record, and we don’t need to remind what a boxing legend De La Hoya has become.

But..it all comes down to Saturday night.

Can Manny Pacquiao use his aggression and heart <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/roach-pacquiao-can-beat-de-la-hoya/"target="_blank">to overcome De La Hoya?

Or will De La Hoya use his advantages in weight, height and reach, and hold on to his legendary boxing reputation?

We want you thoughts and predictions! Post them as comments below..

Following on from <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/manny-pacquiao-wins-diaz-fight-by-tko/"target="_blank">the news that Manny Pacquiao is the new WBC lightweight champion after beating David Diaz by KO in the 9th round, this is the full round by round review of the pacquiao vs diaz fight.

Round 1: Manny Pacquiao got fairly aggressive to begin the fight, bobbing in and out and firing punches. Both Manny Pacquiao and Diaz were landing shots, but none too special in this round. A comfortably win for Manny Pacquiao and a good start to the Manny Pacquiao vs Daiz fight.
10-9 Manny Pacquiao

Round two: <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/pacquiao"target="_blank">Manny Pacquiao began using upercuts with blistering hand speed but Diaz was digging deep into Pacquiao’s body. Diaz did do well by blocking much of Manny Pacquiao blows, but this was another round for Manny Pacquiao.
10-9 Manny Pacquiao

Round three: Manny Pacquiao was still the star of the fight, impressive against Diaz. Pacquiao was testing Diaz’s chin a bit in the third round. The boxing was all out action, but Manny Pacquiao was still firmly on top as his speed was just too much for Diaz.
10- 9 Manny Pacquiao

Round 4: The referee had to call time at 2:03 to check Diaz’s cut on his eye. However the fight is allowed to continue and Manny Pacquiao is in his element looking pound for pound perfect. Diaz was fighting back a bit in this round, but its hard to give him credit for that when his punches are dwarft byManny Pacquiao’s. Plus Manny Pacquiao was just so damn fast!
10-9 Manny Pacquiao

Round 5: Pacquiao was still fully in control, but courageous Diaz was good to watch, however his firepower was easily out matched. Manny Pacquiao was working the uppercuts and turning Diaz into a bloody mess. All credit to Diaz for the pure guts he showed throughout the Manny Pacquiao Diaz fight, especially in this round.
10-9 Manny Pacquiao

Round 6: Diaz was now suffering from two bad cuts and Manny Pacquiao made the best of them when the two were fighting in close range. Manny Pacquiao looked professional and calm inside the ring, easily smahing his opponent. Someone must have ripped the Q section out of Diaz’s dictionary as a kid, because he clearly didn’t know the meaning of the word quit!
10-9 Manny Pacquiao

Round 7: And Diaz was still trying, covering up and looking for openings, but it was all Manny Pacquiao, as he was finding the openings and controlling things with multi levels in his boxing tonight. By now fatigue was setting in for Diaz, he was throwing but not landing.
10 - 9 Manny Pacquiao

Round 8: There was no mercy from Manny Pacquiao in round 10 as he came out hard this round. Manny Pacquiao’s speed and his combinations are perfected to the point he looks blury when throwing punches. Pacman looked ridiculously fast. Diaz was now looking sloppy, leaning against ropes and perhaps we were reaching the point where bravery becomes stupidity and the fight should be ended.
10-9 Manny Pacquiao

Round 9: Manny Pacquiao moved in for the kill. Manny Pacquiao threw a jab followed by a left hand right on the chin. Diaz didn`t see it and hit the canvas with 39 seconds to got. And Diaz really hit the canvas, hard!

Manny Pacquiao wins by KO in the ninth round!

What did you think of the Manny Pacquiao Diaz fight?

Do you think Diaz was brave or stupid?

Is Manny Pacquiao the pound for pound king in your opinion?

<a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/pacquiao"target="_blank">Manny Pacquiao has beaten David Diaz by a KO in the 9th round to win the WBC lightweight crown. As the current <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/the-new-pound-for-pound-boxing-king-is-pacquiao/"target="_blank">pound for pound boxing king, Manny Pacquiao was <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/pacquiao-favoured-to-much-against-diaz/"target="_blank">the favourite to win this fight from and he certainly impressed the crowd straight from the start showing off fast hard punches and excellent boxing skills.

The crowd was chanting for Manny Pacquiao as he won every single round and with blistering combinations that were blurrred at times!

I had favoured Manny Pacquiao from the start as now that Floyd Mayweather has <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/floyd-mayweather-retires-the-right-choice/"target="_blank">retired I view Manny Pacquiao as the best pound for pound boxer in the world. I hope that he is still around when <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/amir-khan-looks-to-pacquiao-diaz-after-gomez-victory/"target="_blank">Amir Khan comes of age, as that would be an awesome fight.

Who do you think Manny Pacquiao should fight next?

And what about Diaz? What’s next in boxing for him?

Most boxing fans could see that the pacquiao vs diaz fight was a clear win for Pacquiao and there was really no contest in the fight, Pacquiao is simply in a different boxing class.

What did you think of the Pacquiao Diaz fight?

I thought it was pretty good actually, with Pacquiao on top of his game, throwing hard fast punches and looking very good up close. Anybody who thought some of the speed might have gone from Manny Pacquiao is seriously wrong. Pacquiao looked like at natural at 135 and boxed superbly the whole fight.

However I would like to commend Diaz on his heart and pure guts which he showed tonight. Diaz gave his all and has nothing to be ashamed of, in fact he should be pound, because he gave Pacquiao everything he had, never stopped coming forward despite taking heavy punishment and having some nasty cuts and showed us boxing fans an extremely entertaining fight!

Let us know what you thought of the Pacquiao Diaz fight, and what you think <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/ricky-hatton-to-fight-manny-pacquiao/"target="_blank">is next for Pacquiao and Diaz by posing a comment below!

Tonight in Las Vegas we see the clashing of the two lightweights, <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/pacquiao"target="_blank">Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz. For this fight Manny Pacquiao has had to move up 5 pounds from junior lightweight. The legendary Pacquiao has 46 wins, with 35 of them knock outs, to 3 losses and 2 draws, is up against the 32 year old David Diaz, who has had a lesser 34 wins, with half of them knock outs, but only 1 loss and one draw.

The heavily favoured Pacquiao has not predicted a <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/manny-pacquiao-going-for-early-ko-against-david-diaz/"target="_blank">knock out, “This is one of my hardest fights. He trained just as hard and is determined to keep his title”, said Manny Pacquiao on the prospects of this fight. <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/the-new-pound-for-pound-boxing-king-is-pacquiao/"target="_blank">Pacquiao has gone through a very intensive training routine with Freddie Roach in the past 7 weeks leading up to this fight, and if he wins he will become the first Asian to win 4 titles in four weight classes, and the first Filipino to be champion in the 135 pound league.

Even though he is the obvious favourite to be the new champion of the lightweight league, he thinks that he will still need the help of his fans to win “Para sa inyo ang laban na ito (This fight is for you),” said Pacquiao. “Gagawin ko ang aking makakaya at sana’y ipagdasal ninyo ang tagumpay ko (I’ll do my best and please pray for my victory)”.

This fight should be a definite to watch, with both boxers believing that they can win, David Diaz saying that “I’m willing to go toe-to-toe with him. I won’t give my belt to him”, lets see if he can keep his belt.

Will Pacquiao be the new lightweight champion?

Can David Diaz keep his title?

Knock down after knock down. In the first round of this fight the former British super featherweight champion was knocked to the canvas. As he was celebrating his birthday, Gomez did not give in and got up again to come back to <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/amir-khan-gets-up-from-canvas-to-stop-gomez/"target="_blank">smash his opponent to the ground with a left hook in the second round.

Gomez began to tire out in the fifth round as blood was pouring from his face, and he had been knocked to one knee. When the fight was stopped by the referee, John Keane, he expressed disappointment, although he looked quite relieved that he could now stop taking the hammering that Amir Khan was giving him. The fight was stopped As Gomez was not responding to a battering up against the ropes.

Amir Khan is still unbeaten in 18 fights and will most probably be a world champion, but not in the very near future. Gomez had also shown what skill he has, and that he can get back up after a serious knock down.

Amir Khan thinks that he could fight the winner of next weeks <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/pacquiao-vs-diaz-southpaw-showdown/"target="_blank">Davis Diaz – Manny Pacquiao fight. Amir Khan also believes that he can be world champion by the end of this year, “And, by the end of the year, I’m not just going to be one of the main men, I’m going to the number one, and everyone’s going to be after me”. Amir Khan also sees himself as one of the top boxers now, and that he could beat either David Diaz, or Manny Pacquiao “Diaz and <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/pacquiao"target="_blank">Pacquiao are both great fighters, but I’m confident that I could beat both of them”. This would be a great fight to see, and also with the Pacquiao – Diaz fight this coming weekend.

However I strongly doubt whether Amir Khan could beat <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/the-new-pound-for-pound-boxing-king-is-pacquiao/"target="_blank">P4P King Pacman. Perhaps in a year or two, but if they fought next week, Manny would knock Khan out without a problem in my opinion!

Could Amir Khan be world champion?

How long will this take?

Who should Amir Khan fight next?

The so far undefeated Amir Khan is still undefeated, he was knocked down though, and it looked as though Gomez was going to win after a deadly left hook in the opening sequence of the second round. Amir Khan managed to come back from this with a fast combination up close, and a brutal uppercut.

The fight was stopped in the half way through the fifth round by referee John Keane. This has seemed to show that there may be cracks in the great commonwealth champion, Amir khan. Will this happen I anther of khans fights? Will khan not be able get up next time? This fight has shown us that Gomez really is finished, and that Amir Khan is not everything that we thought he was. With Amir Khan being knocked down I this fight, it may be that his next fight will be more interesting, and that Amir Khan’s new trainer is not all he is cracked up to be.

With this being Gomez’s last fight, we will not be seeing him in the ring again, but with a film about his life coming out in November we, will be able to see every time that he has had a “comeback”, and won. Amir Khan was favourite to win this fight, and I think that those that had money on him would have been very scared when they saw he went down. It could be that Amir khan may not be able to defend his title much longer.

Has Amir Khan peaked?

What will his reaction to his knocking down be?

Amir Khan fights Michael Gomez, this is sure to be a seriously good fight, the comeback king versus the king. Michael Gomez could actually give Khan a run for his money, rather than Khan giving us another knock out after 40 seconds.

Amir Khan is the favourite to win this fight. Although as it is Michael Gomez’s last fight before retiring, so we will see if he can actually hit as hard as he is saying, or stay up long enough, and is not just shouting his mouth off. Michael Gomez will most probably lose his final fight though, he will be 31 on the day of the fight, and as far as boxers go, he has pretty much had his time. He also said “I’ve been on a murder charge, I’ve been stabbed and, without boxing, I don’t know where I’d be, probably in a lot of trouble,” I think that Gomez realizes that he will probably lose, but is still shouting himself up to go out with a bang.

Amir Khan is the better boxer in my opinion, he is undefeated. Michael Gomez could surprise us all though, he may get pretty far in the fight, although he wont be able to shame Amir Khan in this ring. With a movie about his life coming out in November , Michael Gomez doesn’t really need the money, the film will generate enough to set him up for a long time. This will be a very interesting and entertaining fight to watch, with the upcoming world champion, and the man that has been finished for the last 10 years.

What round will Amir Khan knock out Gomez in?

What will Gomez’s movie be like?

Amir Khan has been attacking his former trainer in the build up towards defending his Commonwealth lightweight championship. After it was reported that Gomez had started false rumours about Amir Khan’s previous trainer, Oliver Harrison, being Gomez’s trainer for this fight.

“I started the rumour and obviously it has worked, What can Oliver Harrison teach Michael Gomez?” Said Gomez after saying that he had started this rumour just to get on Khan’s nerves. It appears that this fight lead up has been filled with a lot of bad blood. Khan said “You know what an idiot Michael Gomez can be, I’ll let my fists do the talking on Saturday night”, after his no-show for a press conference on Wednesday. And Amir Khan also said “He’s scared, I was looking forward to seeing him and he’s not turned up, but his games don’t bother me”, implying that Gomez was feeling the pressure of this fight.

Amir Khan believes that he is in the best condition of his life in terms of fitness under new trainer Dean Powell. And that he’s “been pushed into situations where I’ve sat down and not known where my head is. But it’s good to feel like that because, one day, I might be feeling the same way in a fight”.

His opponent, Michael Gomez, also believes that the fight is his, and that “This fight really is my last chance to set myself up for life and become known in every household in Britain”. Gomez has shocked us all before in fights, and may be able to do it again. He also believes that because it is such a big fight, he will win, “If this fight was a routine fight I’d probably lose. But a big fight like this is what I need and I will shock everybody”.

Will Gomez surprise us all again?

What will Amir Khan do next if he wins?

<a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/search/amir+khan"target="_blank">Amir Khan will be defending his commonwealth lightweight championship this coming Saturday at the 10000 seater sell out Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Khan’s current and temporary trainer has given Khan a warning not to get into a brawl with Gomez. Powell, Khan’s current trainer, has said “Gomez is going to bring a special kind of intensity to the fight. We all know how Michael Gomez likes to fight and we are fully prepared for what he’s going to bring”.

Gomez thinks that a win against Khan will bring a lot more into his already extraordinary life, after having been told that he is finished for the last 10 years of his life, which we will have a film released about in November. Gomez said “But a big fight like this is what I need, <a href="http://www.boxingdaily.co.uk/gomez-ready-for-amir-khan-fight/"target="_blank">I will shock everybody. I fought Alex Arthur (in 2003), who was an unbeaten prospect, and destroyed him”. Gomez has only lost 8 of his past 43 fights, and his movie will show these along with his stopping of Alex Arthur in the 5th round of their fight.

This is going to be Khan’s first fight with Powell, his new trainer, since his break from Oliver Harrison in June. Khan stands undefeated in is 17 fights, and thinks than Gomez will be a challenge to beat. “Gomez will walk forward into my punches and I expect it to be an explosive fight” said Khan on Saturday’s upcoming fight.

Will Khan’s new trainer be enough for him to stay undefeated?

Has Gomez got what it takes, or is he just shouting his mouth off?
