This Friday Femi Fehintola is fighting British super-featherweight champion Carl Johanneson. The 24-year-old from Bradford is now unbeaten in 14 fights and is a gym-mate of the infamous IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods.
He was sitting ringside when Woods defended his belt against Glen Johnson back in September and said: “It was a great boost, and he’s given me plenty of encouragement. I am determined to make the make of my chance against Johanneson in Barnsley and emulate Clinton’s success.”
The Leeds boy, Johanneson who has won his title with a fourth-round stoppage of Billy Corcoran back in July said the influence of Woods on Fehintola will mean practically nothing at the Metrodome. Since his knockout back in December 2004 by Leva Kirakosyan he has won all of his last six bouts. Fehintola is looked upon as a light puncher and has only ever knocked out one of his opponents, and Johanneson said: “Only Femi is getting in the ring with me so it does not matter who is in his corner. I have worked too hard to lose my title to a 14-fight novice.”
