Scott Gammer, the British Heavyweight boxing champion, says he can get the recognition he deserves by victory over Danny Williams when he defends his title on the 2nd March.

“There are a lot of top fighters from Britain out there and I seem to get largely ignored,” Gammer said.
“But Williams is a big name and people will be watching this fight and they will see just what I can do.”

You often hear arguments about who is the best British Heavyweight, Skelton, Williams, Sportt, Harrison, but nobody ever brings up Gammer’s name in these conversations, despite him actually being the British Champion.

However, Gammer, 30, is unbeaten in 18 fights thinks that he will get a fair bit of attention when he beats Danny Williams.

Personally I think Danny Williams is way overrated.
He has be called “the man who knocked out Mike Tyson” which of course is true, but Tyson was nowhere near his prime and a few people had beaten Tyson before Williams beat him. Williams beat the old man version of Tyson, its nothing to shout about!

However Gammon had more to say about Williams:

“I was surprised he came back after the beating Audley Harrison gave him; I thought he’d retire
“I’d be very surprised if he carried on after the beating I’m going to give him.
“I just hope the right Danny Williams shows up. He can be great and he can be terrible,
“But if he’s bad and I beat him, everyone’s just going to focus on how bad he was and not good I was.
“I want a real good scrap so I can prove what I can do, and get the recognition for it.
“I’m capable of flattening anyone on my day so, even if Williams does come ready to fight, that doesn’t bother me.”

The scheduled undercard features rising British stars Damian and Ricky Owen, as well as seasoned European veteran Josef Matolcsi and WBC/IBFYouth titlist Grzegorz Proksa.
