The WBU middleweight boxing champion Gary Lockett has joined boxing trainer Enzo Calzaghe at his highly successful boxing stable in Newbridge.
Lockett said: “I’ve known I needed change and having more family time was important”
Lockett is set to defend his title for the second time against a currently unknown opponent since Darren McDermott withdrew from the fight. Lockett should be fighting on the undercard of the Joe Calzaghe v Peter Manfredo Jr showdown at the Millennium Stadium on 7 April.
Fellow boxing stars in this camp include: he likes of Joe Calzaghe, Enzo Maccarinelli, Bradley Pryce, Gavin Rees, Nathan Cleverly and Kerry Hope.
Lockett said: “The camaraderie between the guys is excellent, I already knew them all anyway and I am enjoying the increased competition and variety in sparring. Enzo Calzaghe is an incredibly tough task master, but I relish that aspect of his training. I have always prided myself on putting in the hard yards and getting my head down and working flat out.”
How do you think this will impact on Lockett’s boxing career?

Well i think that moving to the Calzaghe gym will do him the world of good. As tonight when he fought Lee Blundell he was very fast and sharp.
