Ricky Hatton’s next fight looks like it will be against Jose Luis Castillo of Mexico, but Hatton insists that he can do better than his performance in Las Vegas earlier this month.
The British Boxing favourite was far from top form as he regained the IBF light welterweight title against Juan Urango.
Hatton told the press: “The Americans know I’m a good fighter, but I’ve not had the two easiest opponents to look good against,”
“I think I’ve looked as exciting as they expect me to be, but I know I can do better.”
Ricky Hatton was apparently suffering from a cold before his fight but he has had some though opposition and training to do for his last to fights.
“Some of my opponents are awkward style-wise and you are not going to shine against them. That is nothing to do with my weight but all to do with the opponents. I’m going to America and beating world champions for their belts. I don’t think many people can argue with 42 fights unbeaten and six world championship belts.”
However Hatton insists that he has one more goal to achieve and that is the be the best pound for pound fighter in boxing today.
“The only thing I have left to prove to anyone is to beat Floyd Mayweather.”
For me…those are magic words….
I would love to see Floyd Mayweather fight Ricky Hatton. Mayweather is my top P4P fighter and Hatton is one of my top British boxer and to see them fight would be awesome.
