When European cruiserweight champion David Haye’s defends his title against Giacobbe Fragomeni it will be a final eliminator for the WBC title that is currently held by O’Neil Bell. 25-year-old Haye won his title when he knocked out Alexander Gurov back in December and has since defended his crown twice.
On the 17th of November Haye will be making his third title defence at the Bethnal Green’s York Hall. The 37-year-old Fragomeni, from Spain, has a 100% record with 21 fights and 21 triumphs, including the nine which did not go the distance, since he turned professional way back in 2001.
The British Haye stopped Denmark’s Lasse Johansen in the eighth round of his first defence and in his last fight he just managed to scrape a point’s victory over Belgium’s Ismail Abdoul. The WBC and WBA cruiserweight belts are currently held by Jamaican Bell after he thrashed Jean Marc Mormeck back in January of this year at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
I hope David Haye can join the likes of Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe by becoming another British world champion – good luck David!!! Please leave your own verdict on the up and coming bouts at the bottom of the page.
