Bodytec Heavy Bag Stand with Speedball Platform review on Boxing Daily

This item would be a good buy for any gym or boxing club or even a very dedicated boxer.

Of course this is one of the more boring pieces of boxing equipment. Its not a nice pair of gloves or a decent bag, it just a stand. But a stand is nonetheless a vital piece of boxing equipment in the gym – if you don’t have one then you can use the decent bag and if you cant use the decent bag then you can’t use the nice pair of gloves.

As stands go this is one of the best in terms of value for money. It is from a quality manufacturer, bodytec and comes at a fairly good price. Normally you can expect to pay £60-£150 for a bag stand. However this one comes at only £129.99 AND its is really two stands.

You have a boxing bag stand on one side and an adjustable speedball platform on the other. This platform also collapses to save space when you need it to, but when it is up its as good as any other speedball platform.

Obviously no bags or speedball are actually included in the price but even so I think is is good value for money. The frame is study and strong and also very shock absorbent.

One the downside, this product is not as good as it seems. Although it is good value for money, there are added costs on top of the price of this boxing stand. You have to buy a bag, a speedball and weight discs to go on the weight pins in order to keep the stand steady.

Also, although the speedball works as good as any other, the bad is not as good as one hanging from the ceiling or a free-standing slam man etc. This is because the bars that make up the base of the stand restrict you movement and you cannot circle all around the bag in a 360, throwing punches. As you cannot circle the bag, you are always throwing punches on the same side so the bag is liable to swing and hit the back of the frame, so you have to keep stopping you session to check the bag, which disrupts training.

Boxing Daily Rating: 7/10
– Not bad value for money but there a lot of additional costs and its not as good other stands as you cannot circle the boxing bag.
