Boxing legend Bernard Hopkins is coming out of retirement to face Winky Wright on 21st July.
Wright is the former light middleweight world champion and he is at the top of many people’s best pound for pound fighter list.
These two great fighters will meet in a 170lb bout, just above the 168lb super middleweight limit.
Bernard Hopkins had called it quits from boxing after he beat Antonio Tarver last June.
Hopkins said: “If I can stay out of the real hard fights, I could go another four or five years on my defence alone, I know in some ways I can’t justify this decision. But my mama Shirley, I think, would be OK with this.”
Hopkins also said that he has considered returning in a fight with the super middleweight king, Joe Calzaghe and also his old rival Roy Jones as well as the undisputed cruiserweight champion O’Neil Bell
Hopkins has had an amazing career making 21 world title defences, and he was considering fighting the WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev.
“Almost everyone has Winky ranked up there among the top three or four pound-for-pound fighters.
“I can still compete at a high level. Time beats every athlete eventually, but it hasn’t beaten me yet. My best fights are yet to come.”
Winky Wright is a two time champion at 154lb and he drew against the current middleweight king Jermain Taylor last June.
Wright has win 51 out of 55 and Hopkins has won 47 out of 53…who will win this one?
