How to not get a Six Pack

By Boxing Daily, Posted February 14th, 2007
Topic: Boxing

After that review I wrote on that Sit Up Bench, I have received a few email that said thank you for the review and a couple said that they were looking forward to working on their six pack.

This is does not count as a six pack guys

However this is a common misconception about six packs.

Many people think that in order to get a six pack you need to do lots of sit ups and stomach crunching. Well even if you do all of that 24/7 you still will not get a chiselled six pack.

Doing these exercise will definitely increase your abdominal muscles but the thing is, these muscles are located underneath a layer of fat.

If you have some belly fat over these muscles, as the majority of people do, then this layer of fat will cover up your muscles.

So if you want a six pack, crunches and sit ups may help, but what will make the real difference is losing that layer of fat.

An all round fitness regime will help combined with a healthy diet. Especially sugary fatty rubbish should be avoided and be replaced with protein, fruit, veg, and you will see your stomach fat reduced and a nice six pack revealed.

Any comments on getting a six pack, leave them below…

  1. Good point, I do a load of abs work but I’m not seeing the results. Does anyone know of any good fat burning products out there. I’ve only got about an inch or so of fat to loose but the bloody stuff won’t shift despite all the cardio I do.
BTW, I do eat too much sugary stuff.. but there ya go!

  2. I dont know of any products that coud help you.
I would just try to cut out that suagry stuff and fatty foods in your diet. Also just try and burn off the fat by running or something else that burns off a lot of calories.

  5. LIES!

Well, I am pretty scrawny already, so I don’t really need to lose that fat in the first place.

  7. Well if u’re doing a good balanced diet and can’t get those perfect six pack its easy just get slim really low body fat and do a lots of crunches and you will have six pack eat everything low fat and low carb avoid highcarbs like bread eat diet yogurts you might lose muscle if you don’t eat enought proteins but you will get defenitly a six pack

  9. I don’t really have any fat on me and I do this type of crunch exercise where my back and butt is on my bed but I have my legs at a 90 degree angle off the bed. From this position I do crunches and I gotta tell you, it hurts like hell but I have got absolutely FAB results.

  11. hiya i’m only 16 but i already am obsessed with getting the muscle . i used to do crunchs and cycling till i noticed that they didn’t effect me much BUT they did give my boday more of a lineout and nicer look . yet the feeling was still pathetic till i started doing 100 pushups daily ( 50-80 ) in a row.

the best method though and everyone should look it up as its been advised and that is the plank. do it for about 2-5 minutes per day and you will improve :) I have a realy muscly body now .

aswell as this do as the guy said n eat proper stuff but make sure you eat as much as u burn off or you’l be burning off muscle instead of fat. your muscles will grow remember .

  12. I always find when doing sit ups after a while my neck becomes very stiff and it feels like i am working my neck more than my stomache.

any ideas as to why/solutions? thanks

  13. Are you using your hands to support your neck?

    If not, do.

If you are, then u might be putting to much pressure on your neck with your hands.
