Trainer Billy Graham said that if Ricky Hatton beats Jose Luis Castillo on 23 June, he can claim to be Britain’s best ever boxer.
“This fight will show what I have been telling everybody for years - that Ricky is the greatest fighter to come out of this country,” said Graham.
“I have got a lot of British idols but to me Ricky stands above all of them.
“A lot of the greats are friends of mine and they tell me Ricky is the greatest British fighter, too.”
Although Graham does admit that this fight will be Hatton’s toughest fight yet, but he is confident that Hatton will win in Las Vegas this June 23.
“Castillo is a great fighter but not an awkward fighter and I think Ricky will really shine in this fight,” he said.
Personally, if Ricky Hatton wins this fight, I think that he could be ranked as one of the greatest boxers ever to come out of the UK. However the be called the best boxer from Britain ever, I think he needs to do more.
If he beat Castillo and then beat Floyd Mayweather or Oscar De La Hoya then I would rank him as the best pound for pound fighter in the world and the greatest boxer to come our of Britain.

Crap.Joe Calzaghe at his weight is better than him,he`s the torch bearer for British boxing even though Hatton beat Kostya Tszyu.Hatton`s not acheived enough.Even if he beats Castillo.How can he prove himself British best ever fighter when he won`t face the wbc champion Junior Witter.Hatton`s doing a diservice to British boxing by not fighting a world champion litterally on his own doorstep.

If him and Mayweather ever got into the ring and hatton should win… i would say he is the best. I actually think at this point he is the best.. What has Calzaghe done BESIDES beat JEFF LACY…. anything? o right Peter Manfredo… booo.. Manfredo even LAUGHED at his BITCH ASS after the fight…

I’m afraid red is speaking utter rubbish-the reason hatton doesn’t fight witter is simply becasue it won’t advance ricky’s career pound for pound; witter doesn’t have the international rep, hatton does; it would be playing into wittiers hands as hatton is ranked higher. Hatton is more exciting to watch than calzaghe but both do British boxing proud!
Mayweather is the man to go for and I believe Hatton could have a chance if he stopped the weight gain and trained maybe for a little longer in the build up.

there is no way in the world Ricky hatton will beat floyd mayweather he would get countered all night long beat juniour witter first put critics to rest and beat him its not just meant to be that ricky has no point cuz he wont be ranked pound for pound its about putting the doubters to rest witter has been calling hatton out for years not just recently if any one could be floyd mayweather itwould be junior witter… you really think hatton is really going to have a chance with mayweather thrown single left hoo body shots is all he is decent at countering hatton would be so easy.. mayweather nearly got ko d by demarcus corley and junior beat him like a joke in his wbc title fight..i think if ricky fought most of the fighters juniour fought hed get fucked up. the only fight he lost was against judah and he was in his prime aswell and juniour still took him the distance..

what complete crap! hatton beat tzsyu in an even bout! how can you say hatton’s never fought anyone credible?! he’s gone up against some pretty tough fighters and i think mayweather will be no exception. he does need to stop the weight gain and train more though. but mayweather’s not a fighter, he’s a ponce. as soon as he starts comming under hatton’s fire he’ll be in for a big beating, and hatton’ll gain the title he well deservse

Come on lads wake up Hatton beating Mayweather, Floyd will win. I think it will be a UD, unless Hatton gets cut. Hatton is tough and is always in great shape, but Floyd is just too talented (unbelievable defence and fast hands). It all comes down to training if hatton is training like they do in the states then he will definitely going to win,
That being said, if Hatton can get inside and land a body shots like he did in his last fight, then he might have a chance. It will be an interesting fight but I think Mayweather will win on the night as of experience and he’s been in the ring with some good boxers, and I’m looking forward to it

there is No doubt that Hatton is a fabulous boxer. but mayweather is very fast and is hard to hit. If he would have won he would have been the best in the world. Maybe that time will come maybe not. Mayweather needs to be taken down by somebody. It was a AWESOME fight.although i prefer hatton i give mayweather props. Hatton is an amazing contender in the ring. He CAN be the best.
