Rocky Juarez will be desperate for revenge when he comes across WBC super featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera for their second meeting on Saturday in Las Vegas.
America’s Juarez lost to a split decision against the Mexican marvel back in May, but still considers himself as the true victor of the bout. The outcome was largely infuriating as the fight was initially identified as a draw before a scoring slip-up was exposed. “Not too many fighters get a second chance. I have to make the best of it and leave nothing behind,” claimed Juarez: “I guess I started too late in the first fight and that was one of the reasons why the fight was as close as it was. This time I have to start quicker and take bigger risks. I feel that I have to beat him decisively the second time around.”
Juarez, at 26 years of age, is a silver medallist at the 2000 Olympics, and has lost only two of his 27 professional bouts and may start as the favourite on Saturday night. A defeat for the 32-year-old Barrera, a three-weight world champion, could leave him considering retirement.
Can Rocky do a Rocky and pull it off? And is it time for Barrera to finally hang up his gloves once and for all? Please leave your thoughts at the bottom of the page.
