With no real challenges left for Kelly Pavlik at the middleweight level, it was obvious he was going to have to move up to super middleweight in order to get a decent fight.
Kelly Pavlik is set to fight Lockett but after that where should he go?
Many boxing fans want to see a Kelly Pavlik – Joe Calzaghe fight, but somehow I don’t think that is going to happen anytime soon. Calzaghe is too busy beating big names such as Hopkins and perhaps Roy Jones and Antonio Tarver. These are fighters who are past their prime but Calzaghe still wants their legendary names on his CV and of course, the big fat pay check to his bank account.
Another possibility could be for Kelly Pavlik to fight Carl Froch, however Froch is increasingly concentrating on getting a fight with Calzaghe, lets just hope it doesn’t become another Witter – Hatton scenario. But Froch hasn’t exactly proved himself at a world level let so I am not sure what Kelly Pavlik would gain from fighting him.
It may even be necessary for Kelly Pavlik to go all the way to heavyweight! Its not unthinkable as Kelly Pavlik is six foot two so he could do it if he puts on the weight. And he could make the transition through the cruiserweight division, perhaps by getting a fight with Enzo?
What do you think Kelly Pavlik should do?
Who would you like to see him fight?

Kelly is most likely going to be fighting Joe Calzgahe at the end of the year. I think he will loose and he will come back down to MW to sort out the top contenders after that.
