The left hook of the former WBO heavyweight champion, Tommy Morrison, is still working as he knocked out John Castle in round two of their clash last Thursday night.
This is part of Morrison’s return to the boxing ring, 11 years after he tested positive for HIV, however the boxer now claims he has now has no traces of AIDS after taking many HIV tests.
After Morrison has hit him with his infamous left hook, Castle got up very slowly as the referee counted to eight before stopping the fight giving Morrison the victory.
Morrison didn’t land many punches and he commented on his performance after the fight:
“I’m satisfied with my performance. I still have a lot of improving to do. For the first fight in 11 years, with a win under my belt, I’m pretty happy. As time goes on, as I spend more time in the gym, I’m going to improve in every area.”
This is not exactly a great win, but it is a very good start to his comeback. Castle had not been into the boxing ring for two years, but he was clearly winning in round one as he landed two very solid punches to the head.
“I was a little apprehensive, a little jittery, which I think is to be expected,” said Morrison, sporting a bruise under his right eye. “I think I got a little lazy with a couple of right hands but I think I was able to come back from it. It knocked me off balance, but I wasn’t in trouble. But hey, it was my first fight in 11 years. My defense is going to improve as time goes on.”
