Sugar Ray Leonard seems to be in the news a fair bit recently, giving inspiration to Amir Khan, then saying both De La Hoya and Hatton could beat Mayweather.

Now he reckons he can help Manfredo beat Joe Calzaghe!
Sugar Ray Leonard’s “strategy” and boxing analytical skills can apparently beat the great Joe Calzaghe who is the WBO Super Middleweight Champion and has reigned over the division for a decade. OK, perhaps I’m coming out a tad too strong behind Calzaghe but you cannot deny Calzaghe’s record.
Manfredo’s has never meet someone of Calzaghe’s class and Calzaghe has far more experience in boxing and has won fights against world class boxers. He is a respected world boxing champion, not some TV star wannbe.
Therefore I am backing Joe Calzaghe to win hands down, regardless of what magic Leonard can conjure up.
I really liked what Joe Calzaghe said in response to these comments:
“It makes it even more exciting having Sugar Ray opposing me”
What do you think the outcome of the Calzaghe Manfredo fight will be?

Sugar Ray is one of my favorite fighters of all time, but how dare he say that Hatton can beat Mayweather. Hatton wouldn’t stand a chance.

Hatton could win, I am not saying he will, but it is possible.
If he fights the way he did against Tyszu then he is more than capable. It also depends on if Mayweather can keep his boxing style, if he does, he will beat Hatton.
However if it turns into a fight or a brawl then I would back Hatton to win.

Kostya Tszyu was like 34-35 years old when they fought. Floyd is in his prime and is extremely more talented than Tszyu. Did you watch the Mayweather-Baldomir fight? That is what the Hatton fight would look like. Hatton would have to take tremendous punishment to get inside. The only way he can win is if Floyd breaks both his hands from pounding Hatton’s face so many times.

LOL! Well perhaps Mayweather will have to break his hands then…
I have Floyd down as the winner but I can see only one way in which Hatton could win. As you said, he would have to take tremendous punishment to get inside. But what if Hatton takes that punishment and gets inside?
Then he only needs to land one killer punch…

Lol! Ok Hatton is a good fighter but like DSwain said, it would look just like the Mayweather - Baldomir fight. But back to the Calzaghe Manfredo. Yes Calzaghe I think will win but with a beaten. But that’s ok because deep down I want him to win so he can fight Kessler. In-which Kessler would kick the crap out of him from round 1 till round 8 when he unleashes and knocks him down and out for his first time ever. Game over for the little wanna-be Roy Jones Jr. Sorry Calzaghe fans. He is not that great. He talks a lot of trash about how great he is. Yeah he has a BIGGGGGG record but of WHO……..? No Kessler WHICH BY THE WAY has 2 belts… NO ROY JONES JR when he was in his PRIME and by the way WOULD HAVE PUT LITTLE CAL MAN in the hospital probably in the first few rounds while dancing… and I didn’t see HOPKINS on there which is a whole other story about an ass whopping Calzaghe would receive. How dare he can even mention Hopkins record and his 20 defenses. Hopkins actually has a record to talk about. Anyway the man never left his back yard. And yes he BEAT THE OVER THE HILL, out of his prime JEFF LACY… wow I’m so impressed… booo lets see a KESSLER VS CALZAGHE fight and let’s see who’s standing after the bell.

Joe is an amazing boxer. It just matters on who has more heart for the sport, nothing else matters as much as heart.
