Cwmbran-man, Gary Lockett is to make his second defence of his WBU middleweight title against Roman Aramian on the 18th of November at Newport Sports Centre. Aramian, who is 23 years of age, was born in Armenia but has a German nationality.
He has a record of 26 fights and 19 wins of which 13 came by way of knockout. The “Armenian Warrior” as he is known, has won his last six fights but has hardly ever fought outside of Germany. Lockett, who is at the moment 29, said: “I’ve seen this guy’s record and he looks like a right tough nut to crack, I’m preparing for a long night, but once I lock on to him with my heavy right hand and left hook then I know I can take him out.”
And I do think that Lockett does have the potential to do so if he is at the top of his game. Also fighting on the 18th is Bradley Pryce, who will be making his second defence of his Commonwealth light middleweight title, and other fights will include Gavin Rees, Barrie Jones, Kerry Hope and Nathan Cleverley, although none of the matches confirmed yet.
