The first punches (verbal) have been thrown in the Mayweather – De La Hoya showdown.

Pound for Pound No.1, Floyd Mayweather, has had a go at DLH and was poking and pushing his opponent when they net to publicise the fight in New York.

De La Hoya will be defending his WBC light middleweight title against Floyd Mayweather, the current WBC welterweight champion. However in my opinion, this is not about the titles. It is about the fighters. Everyone want to see DLH and Mayweather have a showdown as they are two of the best boxers around today.

After the usual showing off on the muscular torso’s, Mayweather began attacking De La Hoya calling him a “pussy” and saying, “I’ll do what I’ve done to 37 others and bust his ass.”

De La Hoya remained calm though and promised that he would make Mayweather pay once inside the boxing ring.

“When he’s talking, it’s just more fuel, baby,”
De la Hoya said through gritted teeth.
“I respect Floyd as a fighter but come 5 May, he’s going to be hurting for weeks.”

Mayweather is still the favourite to win this fight, as he is 4/9 at Sporting Odds and BlueSQ. However De La Hoya is less favoured, standing at 7/4 on BlueSQ and 8/5 on Sporting Odds. Who do you think will win?

Would you put your money where your mouth is?

Floyd Mayweather is certainly prepared to do that saying, “I’ll bet you $1m, $2m, $3m I’ll beat you. Every dime in my bank account, right now.”

I know a lot of this is just hype and trash talk to raise the revenue and PPV for the fight, but it is still interesting to watch.

Which one will do the most talking in the boxing ring though? That’s what counts.

  1. This is a tough fight for both fighters. But i’ll put my bet on the golden boy. I’ve never been see a fight where the golden boy is totally punish unlike the pretty boy during their first meet with Jose Luis Castillo I think he is not the real winner at that fight.

At this fight I think the golden boy will KO the pretty boy on the late rounds… I’m sure.

  2. Good Luck with that bet.
At 7/4 or 8/5 (see post above) he is the boxer worth betting on. As Mayweather is odds on favourite is doesnt seem worth it to bet on him.
