Mayweather Wanted by Hatton

Ricky Hatton is still hopeful that he will have the opportunity to fight American four-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather. Hatton, who is currently 28 years old, is attempting to recover his IBF light welterweight crown against Juan Orango on the 13th of January in the United States but could then set up a bout with Mayweather.

Mayweather Wanted by Hatton

When he was on the radio Hatton said: “It’s a fight I would definitely want. I’m not scared to say he’s the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He has won world titles at different weights. Hopefully we can get it on.” Mayweather’s trainer, his uncle Roger Mayweather, told the press earlier in the year that his boxer was attracted to fighting Hatton, although not in his home land in Manchester.

Hatton has now overcome that issue by clinching a deal with TV network HBO to fight in America and he will take on Orango in either Atlantic City Las or Vegas at the start of next year. Yet, this month Mayweather pointed the finger at Hatton for demanding too much money but “The Hitman” in turn insists that is not the case. Hatton continued in his interview by saying: “He says that I’ve priced myself out of a fight but I wasn’t even aware that I’ve asked for a price because my next two fights are done deals.” “The Hitman” also claimed Mayweather, who beat Carlos Baldomir last week to gain the WBC welterweight title, would have to improve his game dramatically if the two were to get together for a night of high profile boxing.

“The way Floyd is performing, I don’t think he is in a position to be demanding money,” said Hatton. “His last two fights have sent me to sleep. He is a wonderful talent but his last fight was very boring. They carried him to the ring dressed as Russell Crowe and he ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow.” But Mayweather, who has an unbeaten record of 37 contests and 37 victories, is set to quit after one more fight. I think that Hatton may not be taking Mayweather seriously; because Mayweather is clearly the best pound-for-pound boxer around today and is an unbelievable talent which I think can beat Hatton.

  1. I think Mayweather Will beat Hatton. I would be very upset if Mayweather would retire after his fight with the GREAT Del La Hoya. I think Hatton deserves the fight, but that dosnt mean he is going to win. I see it being Mayweather all the way if it were to happen.

  2. Yep,pity we won`t see Mayweather fighting in Britain, even though i think he is brag of the century,he could still back it up against Hatton by knocking him out.
