Miguel Cotto, the WBA welterweight champion and Antonio ‘The Tijuana Tornado’ Margarito, the IBF welterweight champion, were both confident at a press conference yesterday.
The excitement is already building for their showdown in Las Vegas on July 26 at MGM Grand. The fight is being billed as “The Battle” and it will be show on HBO PPV.
Cotto said:
“It’s a very tough fight, but as has happened 32 previous times, I will have my arm raised and keep my championship.”
However Margarito was equally confident saying: “Mexico will have a new champion.”
I am looking forward to this fight as we have two decent fighters here, at one of the most exciting weight divisions in boxing today.

There has been some speculation that if Cotton wins he should fight Floyd Mayweather, do you agree?
Cotto will win. The fact that he will have both belts might interest MONEY MAYWEATHER to a fight later this year. Who knows, I don’t really care to see him fight De La Hoya again. I just want Mayweather VS Cotto. WOULD FIGHT OF THE YEAR HANDS DOWN.
