Mike Tyson was one of the greatest boxers of all time in my opinion, and he is one of my personal boxing idols.
Love him or hate him, Mike Tyson stills holds to title of the youngest world heavyweight boxing champion ever and he was a great boxer.
He gets a lot of stick for doing things like biting Holyfields ear and going to prison but I think people are too harsh on him. Firstly, Holyfield head butted Mike 15 times in that fight and the previous fight that they had, giving Tyson a 3 inch cut above his eye. Therefore, understandably, Mike was frustrated and lashed out, Holyfield was not playing my the rules of the ring so why should he? Secondly whatever happened in that rape case, whether he did or did not do it, he has been to prison and has paid his debt to society.
This latest drama with Mike being arrested for driving under the influence of drugs is really sad to see as he was a great boxer in his prime and its upsetting that he has got sucked into that sort of thing.
Please leave you thought on Mike Tyson and his recent arrest below.

It is true that Mike was a great boxer, and at his best he could beat anyone, it is up to him now to decide what kind of a legacy he leaves behind. To many people will only remember the negative side of his character if he carries on in this way. I have watched videos of him talking to Harry Carpenter about the greats of the past and he is very knowledgable about boxing history and very humble when talking about the boxers of the past. He has earned his place as one of the greatest fighters the world has ever seen, but all he is doing now is taking the shine off his wonderful; achievements inside the ring.

I agree, It is important that people remember the positive things that Mike has done in his career which is more important than these latest incidents.

Iron Mike Tyson is the most savage and ruthless fighter ever to step in and out the ring, therefor he has acommplished alot.

etsham is right, he has done alot - but if he carries on like this not many people will remember him for the good things he has done.

True True, but no matter what anyone says he will always remain a legendery BOXER and i admire his (fearless) attitude towards other boxers. Personally i think, that was what had got him so far.

mike will always remain a legendary boxer.
it just sad to see someone go through this, drugs mess people up big time. Also there is the added burden of his $20m debt…
…but it will always remember mike tyson for what he was a great boxer, but its sad that many people will remember him as the guy who bit off holyfields ear, a drug addict and a convicted rapist…

Hi ,really , as the greatest ever boxer i like him but i am very said the guy having $300 million now just have less than $5000,the machine making millions now seeking for thousands ,i am really sad about him i never liked what he did outside the ring ,i liked what he did in the ring but i still believe that he could have ruined williams ,lewis ,holyfield if he had been polite during that time, i wana still see him but he is nt in the ring it was a sign of arrogance fighting against lewis ,mcbrid n williams without any tough practice that he should have done .Jails ,drugs ,arrogance of being finest n being into the ring without proper practice these things took him down but as a boxer i do sometimes think that tyson was better than M Ali,ppl may say i am mad but i say if he had been out of jail during 90’s n away of all the controveries n withheld licence he would have been more then 5 time boxing heavyweight champ. He was 25 yrs of age when he got arrested ,When he was 29 years he had fought more than 40 fights but when over 40 years he is just 58 fights its means due to jail n controversies that he had in the last 15 years he just fought approx 17 - 18 fights now you guys can see what a disarray it is . He got 44 Kn’d , i actually wanted to see what he has never shown during 90’s n above years , well even steel is distroyed if kept under water for more than 10 years he is just a man. I wish him best of luck n be wise n do only good deeds because he still has fans as a boxer. his downfall really gives me so much pain as a boxer i admire him very much.
I again wana see him multi millionnare cause he entertained in the ring for so long.
I m 24 yrs old n like boxing n m sorry for my english mistakes.thanks

Interesting point of view - dont worry about any english mistakes!
I agree that Tyson was much more impressive inside the ring than outside, but I’m not going to judge him for all that stuff that went on. Whatever he did or did not do, he has done his time in jail and so you cannot hold that against him anymore.
However I would not called Tyson arrogant. He often spoke very humbley of himself when speaking about othe great boxers and when he got beat my Lewis he was very honest in saying that Lewis was the better boxer in the ring.
Sometimes I think people mistake he confidence for arrogance, but he was only confident agaisnt fighter he knew he could beat, and he had good reason to be confident and he smashed all of them up!
Alot of people think that he was better than Ali but in my mind the greatest boxer ever is “The Greatest” - Ali.
However I think that it is a shame that someone of that boxing ability has been reduced to this.

yes ur saying is also wright. But i like Mike Tyson most because he was the first boxer whos name i heard first as a great boxer when i was arroung 10 or 11 yrs of age .

Yes me too actually. He was like my first idol that I followed in boxing. Naseem Hamed was another one and he has gone off the rails a bit, but not as much as Tyson and at least Hamed still has his money.
It must have been great to grow up when the likes of Muhammad Ali, Joe Fraizer, Forman, Cooper and Liston was around though as there was so many great boxers that came at once.
I sort of missed Sugar Ray Leonard but he is also one of my favourite boxers.

Tyson was the greatest boxer ever, let me explain… he was the most feared and brutal heavywieght of any era. His awesome power, devastaing speed, impregnable defence and was the finest specimin of a boxer ever. Many people would argue that if ali fought tyson it would be foreman vs ali all over again. Tyson was 10x faster than foreman, tyson had devestating combinations, he would simply could the ring off and get on the inside. No boxer can stand tysons fury. His head movement, power, speed, chin is why he was the greatest fighter ever. He was the most feared man ever. And as for a fighter, no-one beats tyson. In a street fight tyson was the hardest man ever.

Tyson was certainly the most feared heavyweight of HIS ERA not of all time.
Ali would have beat Tyson, but a Foreman vs. Tyson fight is tough to call but I would give the edge to Tyson.
I also think that boxers like Frazier, Marciano and Joe Louis would have given Tyson a run for his money, I’m not saying that they all would have beat him, but they were certainly all capable.
I place Tyson in my top five heavyweights of all time.

Tyson was the BEST. I think Tyson in his prime and ALI in his prime, Tyson would come out the winner. He was my first idol aswell.

mike tyson and muhammad ali would have been an interesting matchup. If ali could have wheathered tysons early round assualt,i think that an ali that fought forman in 74 could have pulled off an upset because of his heart.I say that it would of been an upset because when mike tyson was firing on all pistons he had an extremely rare combination of power and speed, not to mention he was a prodigy boxer. The only thing else i can say about mike tyson is that he gave up too easily when he couldnt dominate as usual and ali would have messed with his head, making tyson mad and careless
