Mikkel Kessler beats Andrade

Mikkel Kessler managed to defeat the brave Librado Andrade of Mexico by a unanimous points decision and so retains is WBC and WBA super middleweight titles.

The fight went the entire distance for twelve rounds at an extreme pace in Copenhagen, but the devastating combinations from Kessler marked the difference between these two fighters.

“I’ve been stressed and nervous but this wonderful crowd lifted me to victory,” Kessler told his home crowd. He now plans to fight his future defences in the USA.

Andrade said after the bout: “He is a tremendous fighter with great skills, I could barely get two shots in.

“I hope my heart is big enough to go out of here with my head held high.”

This is the first time that Kessler has defended both the WBC and WBA crowns but he now has stretched his undefeated boxing record to 39-0 with 29 KO’s.

Surely it is time for Kessler to fight Calzaghe?

I, along with many other boxing fans have been screaming for this fight to happen as these two are the best super middleweights in the world and they own it to the fans to make this fight happen.

Joe Calzaghe fights Peter Manfredo on April 7th but after this I want to see him fight Kessler.

The trouble is that Joe Calzaghe has said he wants to be a world champion at two weights, sighting a future fight with Jermain Taylor. He has also said that he wanted to fight Hopkins but Hopkins is set to fight Winky Wright in July.

Will Calzaghe prioritise a fight with Taylor or Kessler?

Taylor offer more money, more respect, but before he moves to another weight he should fight Kessler to show that, without a doubt, he is the best super middleweight in the world.

What do you think?

  1. I think that if Calzaghe is wise he retires unbeaten.Now. Kessler will be to strong for him. He is in a league by him self at the moment.

  2. and you wouldnt beleieve how MANY people actually think CALZAGHE would win…. lol… I laugh at them….. Kessler would kill the OVER HYPED… OVER RATED… SLAP BOXER Calzaghe…. Kessler is going to LAY some killer punches that will have Calzaghe running to the ropes and then to his knees…..

  3. I would like to thank my true fans for leaving positive constructive comments about my upcoming fight with mr Joe Calzaghe. I hope to win but must admit that I havent faced anyone with the skills of Calzaghe as yet, I would love to have a 10 year reign as champion also but that would make me older than Joe is now lol. If I loose this fight my family would like me to retire, they advised me to not take the Calzaghe fight and move up to lightheavy weight, I will give it my best shot but if I loose I will be lightheavyweight champion soon, thankyou
