On Saturday night Allan Green lost in a ten round unanimous decision to Edison Miranda (28-1, 24 KO’s).

This was one of the most anticipated fights this year as both of these guys are packing some of the hardest punches in the business.
In the first round both boxer began by showing some good boxing and using their jabs a fair bit. But it only took a few seconds before Miranda landed a strong right hand that seemed to shock Green. It probably scared him a little bit as he seemed very reluctant to get close to Miranda, in fear of being hit again with a similar shot. Therefore Green choose to use his jab, not very well, and Miranda responded by also using his jab as well a a few right hand which were thrown in a slight looopy manner. However Miranda won the round with ease, 10-9.
The second round begins and again both boxer use the jab, with Green landing more than Miranda. Miranda responded with a combination of punches, but some were way too low and he was cautioned by the ref. At the end of this round Miranda landed a big right hand that was followed by a painful body shot. Green backs away and tries to box Miranda, but Miranda easily wins the round 10-9.
In the third round there were more jabs but Green began to complain to the ref about a foul. Miranda choose to seize this opportunity to land a big right on Green and so won the round 10-9.
In the forth, we see a lot of tactical fighting the the centre of the ring, with Green landed the hardest punch of the fight, a left hook. There was a lot of clinching in this round until the last few second when Miranda landed a huge right that stuns his opponent and goes on the win the round 10-9.
In round five they fight in the middle of the boxing ring with Miranda using his jab more. Green connects with a body shot but Miranda replies with taunts and a big right hand. Green lands another left hook and Miranda land two more big rights. Miranda wins again 10-9.
Miranda wins round six as well, but this fight is becoming boring, with Green fighting scared and fighting defensively in this round. Miranda out boxes him and win the round 10-9.
The seventh round is more jabbing, more clinching, nothing exciting, Miranda wins again 10-9.
Round eight showed a little more life, after a bit of holding and hitting, Green lands another left hook that knocks Miranda down. However he immediately got up looking very angry with himself for not seeing the punch coming. Green sees that Miranda is hurt and lands a big right before some more jabbing and clinching. Green wins his first round of the fight 10-9.
Round nine began with more jabbing until Miranda caught Green with a big right hand and followed it up beautifually with a left, right combination almost as hard. Green is jabbing in self defence but looks scared. Miranda wins 10-9.
Round ten nearly saw a knock-out with Green barely getting up from two knock-downs, but Miranda fails to KO but wins the round 10-8 and the fight.
Although he did win the fight, this was not how I thought it would be, nowhere near the fight of the year. Green was way too cautious and at time just looked like a moving punch bag for Miranda, despite Green having better boxing creditability going into the fight. Miranda, who improves his record to 28-1, now will search for a possible title fight with one of the current champions, possibly against Arthur Abraham, with whom he lost a very controversial decision to in September 2006, in Germany.
What did you think of the Green-Miranda fight?
Was is the next step for either of the boxers?
