Over Hyped Gunn says he can beat Enzo

Bobby Gunn, the WBO Cruiserweight Challenger has said that he thinks the current champion Enzo Maccarinelli is a tougher fight than Roy Jones Jr.

“I had a possible fight with Jones fall through, but to me there is no comparison with Enzo - he is the man right now,” Gunn said.
“He’s perhaps the best cruiserweight in the world, but a chance to fight such a man on his own ground is what I crave.”

I would agree with Gunn on this one. Although Roy Jones Jr. was a superb fighter in his prime, he is now well past his prime, whereas Enzo is coming into his prime and so he is the better match.

Enzo will beat Gunn

This will be Maccarinelli’s second defence of the title and will be at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday as chief support to the Joe Calzaghe fight.

Gunn holds the IBA world title after he beat Shannon Landberg inside seven rounds last September, but to be honest, does anyone actually rate who the IBA says is champion…..NO! So its really as if Gunn has no title and he is coming to fight Enzo Maccarinelli for his title, a fairly respectable title, the WBO title.

Gunn goes into this fight with a professional record of 16 wins with 13 KO’s and two losses and his trainer, Joe McEwen has this to say about him:

“Bobby is undoubtedly the most devastating and powerful cruiserweight in the game today, he is on a quest to become the toughest, most devastating and vicious fighter since Jack Dempsey,”

“Enzo Maccarinelli will look more like Enzo ‘Macaroni’ when he feels the crippling power of Bobby Gunn. Enzo has not faced a fighter like Bobby Gunn… ever.”

Umm…ok…a bit of good old fashioned American hype never did anyone any harm I supose. We all know McEwen is talking a lot of BS as Gunn has yet to prove that he is even 1% of Jack Dempsey.

Lets take a look at Bobby Gunn:

So Gunn claims to be a world champion….Has Gunn won any world titles? No. IBA doesn’t count because honesly its a bit of a joke. There are four main belts: WBC, IBF, WBO, WBA so if you cant win at least one of them you don’t even contend for world champion status.

Ah ok so if he hasnt won any titles he must have been concentrating on big fights to raise his profile….Has Gunn won any big fights? No.

Umm…ok….if Gunn hasn’t won any big fights then surely he must have beat some decent fighters to get this much hype….Has Gunn beat anyone decent? No.

Errr….ok…then if he hasn’t fought anyone decent and he has been fighting a load of bums so he must be undeafeated….Is Gunn undeafed? No.

O, ok..so he is just anthoer one of them over-hyped American boxers then? YES!

Big Macca with win this fight and knock this over hyped American back to New Jersey. Just as Klitschko did to Ray Austin and just like Joe Calzaghe will do to Peter Manfredo.

What do you think?

  1. Not only does Gunn seem to have a faulty memory about his other fights, he did just as I said. He got destroyed.
