The Commonwealth light middleweight boxing champion, Bradley Price, is set to defend his crown against Thomas Awinbono of Ghana.
Is this a mis-match?!
This guy, Thomas Awinbono has never fought outside of Ghana and is very inexperienced with a record of 6-1-1 (3 KOs).
Is he really up for a commonwealth title challenge? Is this going to be a good fight?
Well, that all depends on who’s view you take. From Awinbono’s view, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase himself on the world stage and he has a shot at a title without having to fight a large number of bouts. From Pryce’s view however, this seems to me like a step backwards as he is fighting a unknown, inexperienced boxer. Pryce should be looking to fight for the British or World titles not, take seemingly easy fights, just to defend and hold on to his title, and just to add another win to his record.
Pryce, 26, has a record of 23-6 (14 KOs) and he has been nominated to face champion Jamie Moore by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Pryce is trained by Enzo Calzaghe and he obviously has some talent as he is winning fights and titles, so why isn’t he trying to go for bigger, better boxers to mover forward in his career?
What do you think?
The fight will take place on the undercard of the Joe Calzaghe and Peter Manfredo fight.
