As as British boxing fans, The Boxing Daily Team was bitterly disappointed that Hatton did not manage to beat Mayweather but at the same time we are all extremely please that a Hatton got himself in a position to challenge the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Seeing Ricky Hatton rise up through the professional boxing ranks has been great, especially as he has really taken the big fights and won them (with the exception of Mayweather). It makes a change from Joe Calzaghe slapping bums around every few months (bar Kessler)!
We am not trying to take anything away from Mayweather by suggesting a rematch as we all truly respect Floyd Mayweather for his boxing ability and although some may say he is too cocky or big headed, we do not mind that as he actually delivers on his big mouth rants and therefore nobody can criticize him for bragging at every opportunity.
Boxing fans in generally thought that it was a pretty good fight, so why not have a rematch? To be honest I think Hatton is the only boxer at the moment with a chance of beating Mayweather. (Also we have this vision of Ricky Hatton beating Floyd Mayweather in the rematch, and then the pair going on to have a classic trilogy of fights!)

I don’t know about Hatton being the only boxer at the moment that could beat Mayweather, I thought Oscar DLH beat him in thier last fight. Floyd was not on his game that night and if he would’ve fought like that against Ricky he would’ve been knocked out. This time it was predictable when you could cleary see that Floyd had brought his A game, Ricky had to take him out early, before round 5, if not then Floyd would start finding his range and let Ricky walk onto his punches. Floyd will not take a rematch because he knows that without his A game he would get knocked out and spoil his perfect record, he has a new found respect for the Hitman

Hatton could only beat Mayweather if Mayweather BS’ed his way through the fight. Hatton would have a difficult time with, and probably lose to, most of the top 147 pounders- Margarito, Cotto, P. Williams and Mosely. Top guys who can box, will always beat a top guy who is a straight ahead fighter.

A Mayweather- Hatton rematch has no appeal at all. Hatton would need to prove that he can effectively fight at 147lbs 1st. He would need to beat a couple of marquee boxers to do that- maybe a Zab Judah or Shane Mosely. And my guess is that he could not beat either.

Well well well, i’m welcoming myself back to the Untied States with this comment: Mayweather did exactly what I said he would do. EVEN on PBF’s B game he would/could WALK SLOWLY right OVER lil hatton on any given day. Don’t get me wrong, I love Hatton, hes a great fighter. BUT PBF is on another level. PBF will move on to bigger and better things. He did and proved and laughed at all the people (BRITS) that said he couldnt do it. NOW he has the last laugh as the your only great fighter FELL TWICE to the mat. It was said and worse to see Hattons mother cry. BUT hey thats life, Mayweather proved A LOT of people WRONG. NOT me of course. I will say that the only thing Hatton did was BRING OUT MAYWEATHERS real talent and thats kicking ass and making it look soooooo easy. Anyway Hatton is still the man and he will continue to be a great fighter in my books. Not much I can say for Sissy boy calzaghe.

Hatton has fought and beaten Castillio and Tzyu, to name just 2 top quality boxers where he was the underdog in both cases.
Mayweather was just too good for Hatton, but that doesnt mean Hatton isn’t still a very good boxer.

firstly i have to say floyd Mayweather is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, even though i don`t like to say it. The last fight between Hatton and Mayweather was amazing and extremly exciting. I think it would be a good idea for the rematch and give Hatton another shot at the title, and to let him prove his true ability.

Hatton has no chance on beating Mayweather, Mayweather has beat some quality boxers in his time. Zab Juda, Diego Coralas. Just to name a few. Ricky Hatton just hasn’t competed at the level as most people in his weight class. He has to go through the Mosley’s, the Cotto’s, the Margarito’s to even get another shot at the top. And I don’t see him beating any of those guys, not even going the distance. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that Mayweather is the best fighter, and in no way one of the greatest of all time. Main reason being that he dosen’t take on the best fighters. He got offered 8 million to fight Margarito and turned it down. And we just seen Margarito beat Coto, one of the best. Mayweather woundn’t even return the calls of Coto’s camp. Champs don’t pick and choose easy winable fights “Ricky Hatton” They take on all challengers!!!

Oh buy the way to all the British Hatton fans complaining about the ref. HATTON GOT KNOCKED OUT!!!! Understand that. The ref could have took a point every round from Mayweather, and Ricky Hatton would have still lost because He didn’t make it to the end!!!
