After turning down the fight with De La Hoya, one of Hatton’s nest opponents could be the superstar Manny Paciquiao. Pacquiao has stated before that he wants to challenge Hatton if he moves up and beats the lightweight WBC champion David Diaz on the 28 June.

Hatton Sr. said that he has approached Pacquiao before and a fight is possible. “Pacquiao’s big at his weight and it would be a wonderful fight. They’ve just about got the two biggest followings in the world - where would you stage a fight like that?” Said Hatton Sr. Possible venues for a fight like this could be Las Vegas, or a Canadian City, as Toronto has 68000 seats at its sky dome. But money would be a large factor for this fight as Hatton comes towards the end of his career.

Hatton Sr. said that “It’s nice that these people are approaching him because it means Richard can just sit back and not have to chase people. It’s a wonderful position to be in”. It seems that Hatton is enjoying being asked for these big fights and no longer have to chase other fighters for a bout. Perhaps this status, and the accompanying money will be enough to get Mayweather out of retirement and into the ring with Hatton again for a rematch?

What would the result of the Hatton – Pacquiao fight be?

Where would you stage a fight like this?

  1. Hatton is too big and strong for Pacquiao. The Pacman started out at 108 lbs and moved up a lot. He is good for men his size but he is too small for Hatton.

    Hatton by KO.

  2. I’m a fan of both fighters, I say Pac by UD or SD. Every round will be close. But with RH’s brawling style, Pac may end up with cuts from unintentional headbutts that could decide the result.

  3. diaz should have won because he was one of the last best mexican boxers in the light weight that had a good record.Unless julio cesar chavez jr. desides to box him. ths would be a intresting, and challenging fight.but paquiao should think about fighting one more box match at the weight that chavez jr is in. he can be mexicos last hope.
