America boxer, Robert Guerrero, recaptured the IBF featherweight boxing title as he stopped Spend Abazi in the eight round of their fight on Friday night.
Spend Abazi was forced to give up the fight in round eight due to heavy bleeding above is left eye.
However this was a pretty one-sided bout with Guerrero (20-2) knocking down the Albanian-born Abazi (35-1) in the third and fifth rounds, and was easily keeping him at bay and controlling the fight.
Guerrero had previously lost this boxing title to Orlando Salido of Mexico on the 4th of November but Nevada Athletic Commission suspended Salido after he tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone, and so the title became vacant.
“It was a good, tough fight,” Guerrero said. “He put up a real good fight, I was surprised.”
Guerrero’s left-handed style, quickness and reach put an end to Abazi’s twenty-fight winning streak.
“The blood bothered me, it was OK to stop” Abazi said. “I did what I could.”
What do you think of Guerrero’s win and him recapturing the IBF world boxing title?
