This Friday Femi Fehintola is fighting British super-featherweight champion Carl Johanneson. The 24-year-old from Bradford is now unbeaten in 14 fights and is a gym-mate of the infamous IBF light heavyweight champion Clinton Woods.

Woods Undergoes Arm Surgery

34-year-old IBF light heavyweight champion of the world Clinton Woods will not fight again this year as he needs remedial surgery on his arm to repair a torn tendon. He got his injury during his superb victory over Glen Johnson earlier this month, but it has only recently come into view.

Woods Undergoes Arm Surgery

Woods told reporters “They need to cut out a piece of muscle in my left forearm, just below the elbow, which has been giving me a lot of pain over the last year,” He continued by saying “I just want it done now so I don’t have to worry about it.” The muscle needs to be removed from his arm in order for the tendon to heal itself. Joe Calzaghe claims he will not allow gossip about a British showdown with Clinton Woods to sidetrack him from the defence of his super middleweight titles in October. Calzaghe is to defend his WBO and IBF belts against Cameroon’s Sakio Bika in Manchester on the 14th of October.

Glen Johnson’s camp intends to object to the decision to award Clinton Woods triumph in their light heavyweight clash last weekend. His promoters, Warriors Boxing, are claiming that one of Woods’ team broke International Boxing Federation regulations by attempting to climb into the ring during the fight.

WBO and IBF super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe wants Clinton Woods’ opponent Glen Johnson to beat him in their IBF light heavyweight title bout in order to set up a very profitable fight.

Calzaghe hopes for Woods defeat

Calzaghe has come to a “provisional agreement” to fight Johnson if he wins, although there has also been some interest from the Woods camp in a possible meeting. “Woods would be a good fight but it wouldn’t mean much worldwide.” said Calzaghe.
