The Italian Simone Maludrotto beat Belfast boxer Damaen Kelly for the second time this year as he safeguarded his European bantamweight title. The fight, which was held in Sardinia, was stopped in the third round when Kelly’s corner threw in the towel to end the fight.

Kelly had started the bout well but a sharp right hand during the third round left him staggering and, as Maludrottu threw more punches, Kelly’s team decided it was time to step in and save their man. Back in April, Kelly went the distance with Maludrotto; who won on points (read more…)
