It seems Ricky Hatton will not be fighting Oscar De La Hoya. De La Hoya was going to fight Mayweather before his retirement announcement, the fight was set for the 20 September. From this rumours started about Hatton taking Mayweather’s place in the fight, but Ray Hatton (Ricky Hatton’s father and manager) has said that his son needed more time to prepare (read more…)

With the retirement of Mayweather, Ricky Hatton has moved into a position for a superfight with De La Hoya later in the year. Hatton is due to fight Pauile Malignaggi in November, and could change course and fight the American, with the opportunity to generate huge pay-per-view sales (read more…)

Roy Jones Still Mr. Unstoppable: RRJ Defeats Trinidad

Well many people (including most of the team here!) thought that the fight between old timers Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad would be a lame fight with both boxers simply getting into the ring for a bit more cash.

However it was a fairly good fight, much better than we had expected, with Roy Jones Jr. (52-4, 38 KOs) winning a unanimous 12-round decision over Felix “Tito” Trinidad (42-3, 35 KOs) at New York’s Madison Square Gardens.

Hopkins Beats Wright in Vegas Boxing Showdown

Bernard “The Execution” Hopkins defeated Winky Wright in their top of the bill boxing showdown in fabulous Las Vegas.

Two judges scored the fight 117-111 to Hopkins and the other gave the bout a 116-112 score.

Mikkel Kessler beats Andrade

Mikkel Kessler managed to defeat the brave Librado Andrade of Mexico by a unanimous points decision and so retains is WBC and WBA super middleweight titles.

The fight went the entire distance for twelve rounds at an extreme pace in Copenhagen, but the devastating combinations from Kessler marked the difference between these two fighters (read more…)

Taylor Inspired by Wright Exhibit

Jermain Taylor is using his worst ever fight as an incentive for his WBC middleweight title defence in opposition to Uganda’s Kassim Ouma this Saturday. The, usually very consistent American 28-year-old, was lucky to get a draw against Winky Wright back in June and is desperate to improve upon his awful performance.

After watching the bout he said: “I watched the tape and I saw all the mistakes I made. It was the worst fight I could ever have fought. I’m not saying Ouma is a lesser opponent, but I’m supposed to look good this fight,” Taylor became champion back in July of 2005 by beating Bernard Hopkins with a points victory in Las Vegas; he then went onto beat him there once again later in December with another decision (read more…)
