The Italian Simone Maludrotto beat Belfast boxer Damaen Kelly for the second time this year as he safeguarded his European bantamweight title. The fight, which was held in Sardinia, was stopped in the third round when Kelly’s corner threw in the towel to end the fight.

WBO world heavyweight champion Serguei Lyakhovich weighed in 30lbs lighter than Shannon Briggs ahead of their heavyweight clash on Saturday night in Phoenix. Briggs, who is currently 35, believes that he can easily overpower the Belarussian champion who currently lives in Arizona and said: “I’m looking to get him out of there early, he’s a young kid - one or two rounds.”
