Miguel Cotto managed to stop fellow Puerto Rican Carlos Quintana in Atlantic City during the fifth round to take hold of the vacant WBA welterweight crown.
The WBA belt was given up by Manchester’s Ricky Hatton earlier this year. Cotto put Quintana onto the canvas twice in round the fifth round and managed to bloody his opponent before he was stopped from coming out of his corner for round number six. It was the ex-WBO light welterweight legend’s first fight at 147lb and he was able to improve his unblemished record even more to 28 wins, 23 knockouts and still with no defeats (read more…)
