The trainer Freddie Roach has added an interesting new twist to the story of the Filipino Manny Pacquiao by saying that Golden Boy Promotions might want to put up Oscar De La Hoya in stead of Ricky Hatton, also handled by the Golden Boy promotions. “To be honest with you I think Manny can beat Oscar”. A fight has been made by the world boxing council between the top and second top ranked fighters, Andre Berto (top with 21-0, and 18 knock outs ), Miguel Rodriguez (second top with 29-2, and 23 knockouts). The Mayweather-De La Hoya rematch on the 20 September was cancelled when Mayweather announced his retirement. Pound of pound boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr has announced that he is retiring from boxing.

Mayweather is stepping down undefeated, after winning all of his 39 fights, and therefore his last fight was against Rick Hatton when he retained his WBC welterweight title.
