Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr

It looks as though we are probably going to see Roy Jones Jr as the next opponent for undefeated world super middleweight champion, Joe Calzaghe.

Whilst Roy Jones is no where near as good as he was at his prime, he still put in an impressive display against Felix Trinidad and so could provide a challenge for Joe Calzaghe.

I think the key thing (read more…)

Calzaghe has the choice: Roy Jones or Antonio Tarver?

Since Calzaghe beat Hopkins in a split decision, everyday seems to bring a new fighter out of the woodwork who wants to face the Welshman.

First to put his name forward was Roy Jones and now Antonio Tarver has said he wants to fight Calzaghe.

Just shows what beating a high profile yank can do for your career!

Firstly let me make it clear that these are not “new” fighters, they are old ones being tried again (read more…)

Roy Jones Still Mr. Unstoppable: RRJ Defeats Trinidad

Well many people (including most of the team here!) thought that the fight between old timers Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad would be a lame fight with both boxers simply getting into the ring for a bit more cash.

However it was a fairly good fight, much better than we had expected, with Roy Jones Jr. (52-4, 38 KOs) winning a unanimous 12-round decision over Felix “Tito” Trinidad (42-3, 35 KOs) at New York’s Madison Square Gardens.

Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad: Does It Just Make Cents?

Is it just me or is this fight happening years after it should have happened?

Both of these boxers are way past their prime but Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad are set to go head to head in Las Vegas in just a couple of days.

To be honest, either Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad are half decent liars or neither of them actually know how far past their prime they are (read more…)

Thanks to Michael Jordan, every sports star seem to want to make a “comeback”. Actually I think this stems back to Muhammad Ali who made the original “greatest comeback”.

Dinosaurs RJJ and Trinidad Return

But the fact is that Ali didn’t intentionally retire, he was forced to stop boxing. Show offs like Mayweather come out with utter rubbish about retirement so they can claim that they are making some magnificent comeback. This are fakes. Just retire when you want to retire, but don’t announce that you are going to retire just to raise PPV sales because its annoying boxing fans like myself!

This “comeback” by Roy Jones Junior and Felix Trinidad is (read more…)

Ronald “Winky” Wright has become even closer to a potential re-match with middleweight ruler Jermain Taylor after he beat Ghanaian old hand Ike Quartey. Wright once conquered the light middleweight division between 2001 and 2005 but after a great triumph over Felix Trinidad in his first fight at middleweight he drew with Taylor when they clashed back in June.

Wright Steps in Line to Tow the Line with Taylor

Wright out-pointed Quartey in his hometown of Tampa, Florida, after unbelievably throwing more than 1,000 punches and scoring a knockdown in the second round. The one time welterweight world champ Quartey harassed Wright throughout and made a bid for the win in a topsy-turvey final round (read more…)
