As a reward for his fabulous KO victory over Audley Harrison, Micheal Sprott will get a rematch against the current Commonwealth heavyweight boxing champion, Matt Skelton.
His promoter, Frank Warren, is hoping to get the winning of this upcoming fight a shot at a world heavyweight title. The bout will take place at Docklands Arena, in London, on 26th May.
Michael Sprott has the English and fringe European Union belt but said:
“I’m still walking around with my head in the clouds, but I know I’ll have to take Skelton seriously and I’m already focusing on that fight.
“I tend to do better in rematches, so I’m confident that I can carry my good form into the Skelton fight.
“Matt’s a great fighter and he deserved to win our first meeting, but now I’ve got a chance to turn things around.”
When Sprott beat former Olympic champion Harrison it improved his boxing record to 30 wins and 10 losses.
Matt Skelton, 40, has been beaten only once in 21 fights since switching sports from kick boxing five years ago.
Boxer Skelton has this to say:
“I thought Michael’s performance against Audley was very impressive. Not many people thought he could win, but he stuck to it.
“Obviously I’m disappointed because I was supposed to fight Harrison, but maybe it’s not to be.
“It was frustrating missing out in December because of my hand injury, and frustrating to see him get beaten by Michael.
“But fair play to Michael because he has earned his chance. Now I’m raring to go and the time off won’t have affected me.”
Who do you would win in a Skelton-Sprott fight?
Could the winner go on win a world title?
Britain needs a quality heavyweight boxer to represent the UK on the world stage in the heavyweight division.

Sprott is gonna knock him out in the first minuite!!!!
