On Saturday night Jermain Taylor managed to hang on to his WBC and WBO middleweight belts with a unanimous decision over Kassim Ouma in Arkansas.
The three judges scored the fight: 118-110, 117-111 and 115-113, as the undefeated American went the full course for only the fourth time in his whole career. But he didn’t have it easy as the Ugandan Kassim Ouma cut the champ above the left eye during round number five, but he could not stop Taylor from making his third defence of the titles that he claimed from Bernard Hopkins back in July last year.
The 28-year-old Taylor led the fight the whole way but confessed after the contest that he strived too hard to force an early end to the fight: “I had it in my head all night I wanted to knock him out, and I threw myself out. But he came in and he fought. That little guy, he’s tough.” Once again Taylor spoke about moving up a weight division to confront the unbeaten Briton Joe Calzaghe for the super middleweight crown, but said: “Whoever wants to fight me, come on. I ain’t backing off from nobody.”
But I think if Taylor was to take on Calzaghe he would definitely have his work cut out although he may have a chance if he performs at his very best.

Manfredo!? Now that’s a joke. Taylor is not a bad fighter and he deserves more credit than he gets - he is a world champion. I appreciate that he is not a great fighter but him and Calzaghe would be a good bout.

No Calzaghe is a JOKE! lol think about it…. who has he fought? hmmmmmmmm…… Jeff Lacy… haha… boooooooooooooooooooo……. calzaghe is a joke… thats worth a laugh….. manfredo is going to give him a tough time… and maybe if calzaghe would grow some balls he would STEP UP and fight a real man like KESSLER or even Taylor… Taylor i bet would knock his sorry WELSH bitch ass out before you can say CALZAGHE SUCKS…. why if he is sooooo amazing and sooooo great and the best p4p, why would he fight Manfredo? to make money? to be seen in USA? noooo cause he knows he can win and get that big 20… haha what a bitch… i hope he does win this Saturday so Kessler can talk more trash about him and maybe, just maybe they will fight. AND then the CAL man can actually say he fought someone for the FIRST time in his BORING ASS CAREER… if you may call it…. on a good note… he has done good for the sport of boxing…. i give him that…

is that dave guy having a laugh? jermaine taylor? yeah right this over rated american (just 4 a change) wouldnt stand a chance against calzaghe. what has HE ever done? won a dodgey points decision against an ageing hopkins big deal. an hopkins ducked calzaghe 4 years 2. so so much 4 the ‘great’ american fighters. It wasnt that long ago everyone in the US was bangin on about jeff lacy bein the best pound for pound fighter but since calzaghe beat him up supposedly he’s rubbish- you rather put down lacy than admit how good joe is. kessler will get dealt with in due course and be exposed as being inferior 2 calzaghe just as lacy was
