WBC middleweight champion Jermain Taylor successfully defended his title with a split-decision win over Cory Spinks.
Taylor, who could be up for a showdown with Joe Calzaghe, overcame his fellow American in an uninspiring bout in Memphis.
One judge gave the fight 117-111 to Spinks but the other two went 117-111 and 115-113 in favour of Taylor.
The 28-year-old has now won 27 of his 28 bouts with one draw, against Winky Wright.
Taylor has been champion since he out-pointed the great Bernard Hopkins in July 2005.
He landed few serious punches on Spinks, the IBF light middleweight champion, who was stepping up in weight.
“I will fight anybody, anybody” said Taylor. “If Kelly Pavlik is the best fighter out there for the most money, we’re going after Kelly Pavlik.”
Who would you like to see Taylor fight next? Calzaghe? Who would win that one I wonder….?
Lol I think the one Judge that had the fight for SPINKS was either retarded or fell asleep, because it was a really boring fight and I was really disappointed in Taylor. But hey I think he’s the type of fighter that fights at his opponent’s level. If he’s fighting a SPINKS he will fight at that level, if it’s a HOPKINS he will fight the way he needs to beat him. Anyway JT dominated the fight; SPINKS just ran and ran and ran and ran. You don’t win belts by running, end of story. YES JT looked horrible, but Spinks looked like he was in a running marathon or something. He didn’t once fight or land anything solid. JT landed several solid shots and well he was the aggressor which makes him the winner, easily.
Up next for JT should be Pavlik While in the mean time Calzaghe’s B*TCH ass should be getting his A$$ beat by Kessler and then the winner of those to fights would meet in the ring for a show down.

Once again, you are retarded. Taylor is too little and sloppy to beat Joe C. However, I would rather see Joe fight Kessler because they are both better than Taylor!

I will put it this way… Taylor looked horrible against Spinks… BUT Taylor is the GUY that MOVES (UP OR DOWN) to your level to fight… if he’s fighting a B-HOP he ups his game… if he fights A RUNNING LIKE A LITTLE B*TCH SPINKS he will MOVE WAAAAAAY DOWN on his game. I don’t necessarily like JT but B*TCH boy calzaghe wouldn’t be able to handle JT…. Let alone B-HOP or WINKY, or even RJJ… Jones is TO FAST FOR HIM and HITS A HELLLLLLL OF a lot harder… yes RJJ is past his prime with a glass jaw to add to it… but with all that he STILL will kick his welsh ass. I will agree with you on that. I like PBF, but he does talk a lot of trash. I also believe DLH won the fight between them two IMO. He is one of the GREATS and will go down in HISTORY, because he’s beat the best of the best of the best. I don’t think he won against DLH but in reality he has a win over him that is official. Hopefully there will be a rematch on the cards. Taylor is boring; it’s his style I suppose. But he does what he needs to do to win. Like I have said before he’s the type of fighter that will fight at what ever level it takes to defeat you. If he fights a RUNNING SCARED SPINKS, then well, he has to chase him down and win. If it’s B-HOP, it’s more of a BOARING tactical fight. He’s not anything great, but he HAS a HELL of a lot MORE RESPECTABLE fights than Calzaghe (1 recent fight,LACY) does. So you can’t really talk. If cal wants respect and A REAL FIGHT he knows what to do. WILL HE DO IT is the question. For 10 years he didn’t so we will see if he wants to loose or not. Let alone actually get any respect from the REAL boxing community. Because IN THE REAL BOXING world, he’s another CHUMP 2nd rate overseas contender wannabe, that’s afraid to leave mommy and daddy.
